Engineering R&D
About the Program
Within our workshop facility, our engineering program that works on research and development teaches our students programming, manufacturing, product packaging, inventory, and graphic design skills.
With state of the art CNC laser machines and routers and metal machines, our engineering department can custom make products for customers while teaching our youth the process. Students are involved in every step from design and concept to operating the machines and finally to packaging the items.
Like other programs, MBW Engineering has a social enterprises aspect to help maintain the program and enroll as many students as we can each year. Please take a look at our products to see how we can help you!

What Our Students Say About MBW Engineering
Mentors & Staff
James Young-Williams
Engineering R&D Trainer
When James Young-Williams moved to St. Thomas in August of 2017, no one knew the island was about to experience two consecutive record-breaking hurricanes. He chose to stay despite receiving a less-than-warm welcome from Mother Nature. Now James is an integral part of the community as Lead Trainer for the Engineering R&D Department at My Brother’s Workshop. Originally from South Carolina, James received his BFA in Graphic Design in 2013. Since then he has been working in the fields of design and computer-controlled machinery. He puts his experience to good use by teaching transferable skills to others. His main goals are to enable his students to further their growth as human beings as well as to show them a path to success.Location Info
